Tempranillo vineyards
The multi-terroir essence of Bodegas Leda

At Bodegas Leda, each wine is the result of a symphony of terroirs. Our commitment to multi-terroir viticulture is reflected in a network of meticulously selected plots in the provinces of Valladolid and Zamora, where the Tempranillo variety—including its local expression, Tinta de Toro—reaches its peak.

Diversity of plots, richness of nuances

We have 15 plots covering more than 20 hectares, cultivated in vats and ranging in age from 30 to 120 years. This diversity allows us to produce complex, deep wines with a marked personality.

Valladolid
Elegance and freshness

  • San Román, in San Román de Hornija, with stony, loamy soil at 708 metres, produces wines with good acidity and polished tannins.
  • Traspinedo, with 3.5 hectares and vines between 40 and 75 years old, is located at 770 metres above sea level on sandy clay soil, providing volume and roundness. Mucientes has three exceptional plots:
    • Basket weavers, with 80-90-year-old vines on loamy clay soil at 750 metres.
    • La Giganta, with an east-west orientation and sandy clay soil at 780 m.
    • Fountain, with vines over 100 years old, which contribute depth and complexity.

Zamora
The ancestral strength of Tinta de Toro

  • Villamor de los Escuderos is home to five century-old plots (Cuco, Alfredo, El Henar, La Cabra and Villamor), with altitudes between 870 and 900 metres, loamy-clay soils and E-W and N-S orientations. These vines, which are over 110 years old, provide concentration, structure and a unique aromatic intensity.
  • Las Calzadas, in El Maderal, at 885 metres above sea level, with sandy loam soil, contributes ripe fruit and firm tannins.
  • Picoroyo, in Toro, with vines over 100 years old growing on sandy soil, offers elegance and minerality.
  • Morales and Las Tijeras, in Morales de Toro and Venialbo respectively, aged between 50 and 75, bring freshness and balance.

A mosaic of soils and altitudes

The richness of our wines stems from the interaction between:

Soils

From sandy and sandy loam soils that favour early ripening, to sandy clay and stony soils that provide structure and longevity.

Altitudes

Between 690 and 900 metres, allowing for slow, balanced ripening while preserving freshness.

Guidelines

N-S and E-W, which regulate sun exposure and promote staggered ripening.

Traditional viticulture, respect for the origin

All plots are cultivated using the traditional goblet method, allowing the century-old vines to express their full potential. Low yields result in grapes of the highest quality, with a natural concentration that defines the character of our wines.
